WHAT TO BRING?

Day pack for lunch, extra clothing, water and sunblock.

Food and drinks for lunches, dinner and breakfast (which we’ll transfer for you) - you’ll find cooking facilities at your destination.

Good walking shoes.

IS THE LAST RESORT CATERED?

No, The Last Resort offers you the chance to cook with family and friends. You have exclusive access during your stay, so there’s no need to share cooking facilities with others. When we transfer your luggage, we’ll pop food and beverages in the fridge.

IS THEre power?

Yes, there’s power to both buildings, the accommodation block we call ‘The Roost’ and the kitchen-dining converted cottage we call ‘The Old Place’. There are also switches in both buildings for charging devices.

what are the cooking facilities?

‘The Old Place’, our converted cottage, is your kitchen, dining and lounge area. It has a gas top and oven, jug, large fridge, crockery, cutlery and all other kitchen necessities.

Does the trail cross through farmland?

Yes. Our farm, Riversdale Station, has been a working farm since the mid-1800s, spanning over 10,000 acres of diverse terrain. In addition to walking, mountain biking, and horse trekking, our station is a well-known private hunting destination.

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests, please follow any restricted access signs and be mindful of areas currently prioritised for stock movements.

Important farm etiquette:

- Keep a safe distance from livestock whenever possible
- Close all gates after passing through them
- Read and adhere to our Terms & Conditions before visiting

how much does it cost?

Walk

  • Exclusive use for you and your friends with a minimum of 2 people

  • For up to 2 people the cost per night is $560

  • Each extra guests cost $150 per person up to a maximum of 8 guests

  • Additional nights are $150 per person

Bike

  • For up to two people the cost per night is $560

  • Each extra person costs $150 up to a maximum of 8 guests

  • Additional nights are $150 per person

Horsetrek

  • The cost per night is $480 per rider (minimum of 2 riders)

  • Extra riders, up a maximum of 8, are $430 per person

Deposit

  • A deposit of 25% is required with all bookings

  • The balance is to be paid no less than one month prior to arrival

  • Payment to be made by internet banking to: 01-0671-0028119-00 and please use your surname as a reference. All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST.

Taxi! Need a Lift?

Some adventures require a little help getting from A to B!

Private vehicles are NOT permitted on the station, but we’ve got you covered:

  • Can-Am side-by-side transport available for you and your gear.

  • Want friends or family to join you for the night? We can drop them at your accommodation and collect them the next day (must be arranged at the time of booking & subject to availability). Transport is $50 per person return plus $150 per night accommodation

Expect patchy mobile coverage — we recommend switching to Airplane Mode and embracing the moment!

For those determined to check their messages, you could try climbing the eighth fence post along the south fence line while holding your tongue at 90 degrees… or you could just wait until you’re back in range.

Will My Car Be Safe?

Absolutely! We have designated car parking on-site, and with our trusty farm dogs keeping watch, you’ll find your vehicle exactly as you left it.
